I installed one of those fancy doorbell cameras a few months ago to help protect our home from unwanted burglars and guests. Mostly it just captures videos of the stupid neighborhood cat that regularly trespasses onto our porch to infuriate our dog. On Monday, though, it caught my 16-year-old son sneaking out of the house to meet up with his friends. Well, his friends and classmates. And a teacher. It was their first day back to in-person seminary class since last March.
He was sneaking because we’d had a heated discussion the previous night about how long it takes to safely drive the 2.7 miles from our house to his 6:15am class. As you can see in the picture, he ended up walking out the front door with exactly zero minutes to get there. You can imagine my frustration when I rolled out of bed two hours later and reviewed the footage.
To avoid this problem in the future, his 23-year-old brother suggested that he just start going out through the garage.
Now everyone is grounded.
